Garageband Vocal question??

PREVAILED

So.. I have a few projects in GB, have all my music mixed at the volumes I like. Now my question is when I go to do vocals the vocal track clips. Yes, I have a pop filter and all the good stuff. The thing is if I lower the mix volume... Just to hear the vocals... with out any clip occurring..., then burn it on a CD-R it would be way to quiet. So how do I get my vocal volume loader then the mix?

Thanks!!

What kind of microphone are you using? I'm guessing it's a mic that requires a pop filter and not a dynamic. Are you using a pre-amp? Are you using a breakout box? There should be gains on the outboard gear.

SM7b... I have now tried my SM58 with a pop filter.. yes i have messed around with the interface gain but, to get it loud enough it clips.. Just need to know how to get my Vocal volumes loud enoug to hear over the mix, without clipping?

1) Compression.

2) www.google.com

3) Learn by both reading and experimenting.

4) Apply this gained knowledge to your mixing.

5) Sorted.

:)

(...hopefully that doesn't sound too facetious)
