Gah! Removing fan from processor?

I have a Celly 1.1, I assembled the processor with the heatsink and fan, but I don't remember how I did it exactly. I need to take the fan off so that I can replace it with a Silencer (with the adaptor). But it doesn't seem to want to pull off and I can't find any levers to unclip it. Does anyone know how to get it off?

Also, what direction should the silencer be facing once I am able to attach it to the heatsink? Thanks... :)

The heatsink is usually secured by a metal clip that runs through the heatsink and secures onto tabs on the cpu socket. It really is a pain in the ass to get the heatsink off and on - just be careful.

uhh... if are just changin the fan and keeping the same heatsink, the fan is usually attached to the heatsink with 4 screws, one in each corner...

if you are using a new heatsink, it'll be some kinda metal clip...
