Ok everyone so I just bought a 1965 Teisco MJ-2L. It has obviously been used but I only paid 40$ for it and thought I'd try and fix it up a bit and bring it back to former glory. After I opened up the body cavity everything seemed like it was in good working order(the shop I bought it from said that is was working but the output jack had issues). The outer sleeve wire had been disconnected(but still in the cavity)and the inner sleeve seemed to show no sign of ever having a wire attached and there was no wire there for it. The only other wire in the cavity that doesn't have a home yet(I assume it just attaches to the back of the nearest tone pots) is the bridge/hardware ground. Has anyone ever heard of and output jack without an attached ground wire and will it work without one?

To work, the socket would need both signal and a signal return ("ground") connection. If the socket was screwed onto a metallic plane (say, some shielding), then I guess that could serve as signal return.

Might help to put up a clear photo or 2?
