when crossing back and forth does the audio loose and data or quality. I'd like to turn my wavs back to MP3's to make more space. Please reply ASAP, I really need to know.

I keep all my sounds in wav. I need more space.
If it doesn't degarde the quality, is their a difference in programs if I convert them to MP3 in a program like Wavlab, or Winamp in quality of conversion.

Thanks, respect, peace!

MP3 uses lossy compression algorithms, which means data is thrown away to make the file size smaller. If you convert to MP3, then back to WAV, you will have lost something.

Yep, Alchuck is right. If you need space, a burner may be a better option. Just an idea. The compression inherent in the creation of mp3's will reduce the quality of the file, and it cannot be regained.

Not much point in converting back to .wav unless this is some last resort multitrack collaboration via the net and your multitracker won't mix .mp3 and .wav files on the fly.

If you need more space I suggest a new HD. Man are they getting cheap!
