Just say'n hey to all you other forum readers here. I've just got into this 'computer recording' shit and am luv'n it. Got me a mic a lil preamp, some software (cool edit pro) and a guitar. Oh, and this beat making program called fruity loops. hah!

Anyway, I recorded my first 2 simple test mixes I wanted to show yous.

Need to find out from yous how to get good clean recordings when recording guitar/vocals etc. Mine seems all fucked and messy sounding and my output levels don't seem to be as high as those on a Dre CD without distorting and shit :). I don't have a guitar amp and plug my guitar straight into the preamp and into my computer. Got no bass either, I be skimp'n. Is there a cheap substitute I could use?

Anyway I'd appreciate some tips from yous as they are sounding pretty amateur but I'm willing to learn.

here are the beats.

Hey crosstudio, I'm using a little soundcraft spirit folio 6 chan mixer as the preamp.

Try right clicking on the links and selecting 'Save As...'

not bad for a lo budget recording

there is some distortion on the vocals and guitar

compress the vocal

Yeah, I don't think there isn't much I can do with the guitar as I think I had the recording level too high while I was too high.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll do it.
