free EQ or frequency band splitting plug in?

is there a vst or directX plug in that makes it possible to cut an audio signal into different frequency bands at selected frequency points?

all my plug in's use shelving and arent's accurate at all.

The Sonitus multi-band compressor that comes with Sonar does this, whether you use it to also compress or not.
