focusrite liquid channel >> profire 610

i am considering purchasing a focusrite liquid channel to run into my profire 610. if i made such an investment what would be the best way to connect it to my profire 610? i want to take advantage of the focusrite's clock, but it has no spdif out. could i still external sync the clock if go from focusrite's XLR out to profire's balanced in?

also, any other suggestions for versatilie high-quality single-channel pres/strips with clocking capabilities?
