I'm considering getting 2 FMR RNP for recording drums just wanted opinions and demo's if possible . also here's the mics that would be used to track the drum SM57,AKG D112, 2 Oktava MK-012 pencil condensers figured that's not a bad set up to go with the FMR's Thanks for opinions and demo's and any other suggestions that might help.

I like the RNP on overheads. I wouldn't record any close mics with compression because it will make it harder to gate them in the mixdown.

The RNP is a pre-amp, the RNC is the compressor so your comment about not using them on close mics so you can gate later is a bit irrelevant.

I think you'll find the RNP to be a rather clear sounding pre-amp. I quite like them for overheads, as well as Snare and Tom stuff. I usually prefer something with a bit more "shank" to it for kik drums... like the TAB-funkenwerks V-78M

Best of luck with your search.
