Hi,
I'm brand new to all of this. I am starting my own home studio and had a question when it came to mic placement on a flute. Ive seen many different uses and techniques but never knew which one was really correct.

I know a lot has to do with the microphone one is using which makes a big difference. But if I had a c414 xlii or a nt5 where would i place the mic?( I am aware that these are not the first choice in mics when it comes to flute but I have to work with what I have)

Would it be near the mouthhole or in the middle of the flute, or does anyone put it at the end of the flute?

I'm recording jazz flute btw.

Thanks

Try just a little down from the mouthhole...you don't want too much air.

If it's someone else doing the playing...just have them play as you move the mic around and listen for the best sound you can get in your environment.
