fixed my plosives

Hey - I remember seeing a thread on fixing plosives after the fact - I admit I never read it...

but anyway - I had a tune I was working on, got a great vocal take but it had the word "plays" in it 3 times and all three had plosives!

I horisontally magnified my waveforms and automated my volume to spike down right after the attack and return just as it was tailing off. It worked really well.

just thought I would share that.

I just posted a question on this then googled the same question and I was brought right back to your post. Funny how that works. This is not a bad idea. I will give it a shot.

This is how I do it,

1) Using a de-esser that can be set to low frequencies or a compressor with a eq side chain, set the de-esser / compressor to act hard and quickly on the offending frequencies, being careful not to destroy the vocal sound.

2) Or as lotuscent said, go through the wave and reduce the volume of every pop, very time consuming but does work, and I have had to do this to save a performance.

Cheers

Alan
