First mic for recording to computer

Hi everyone. I'm on a budget of about £200 and I need to get a mic, and some way to connect it to my PC to record. I was looking at a Shure SM58, as it was recommended by a few other tin whistle players. Do you think that'd be ok?

Also, what hardware do I need to buy so I connect this mic to my PC and record? I already have Audacity on the software, which is fine for my simple editing needs at the moment.

Thanks for all your help!
Richard

You can plug the SM58 directly into your built-in soundcard's mic jack, you'll just need adapter(s) to get down to the little jack size. Of course it will only sound as good as the soundcard allows.
Realistically, get a USB or Firewire interface.

if you get something like a Line6 GX studio along with the shure, I think thats their cheapest interface, you'll also get software that has pre amp simulators with it...they are excellent imo
