fender jazz bass pickup hum!

i have a mexican made fender standard jazz bass. it's not a bad instrument, except some idiot at fender decided to wire both pickups the same way... so i can never get rid of the hum -- even if i have both pickups on.

i'm thinking of replacing one pickup with a standard american pickup, but am not sure which way each pickup is wound. has anyone every run into this problem?

can anyone tell me which way the std american neck and bridge pickups are wound? and which way the mex pickups are wound?

ps. anyone know how to get support from fender? i went looking on their site today....it's either totally buried or non-existant.
