Feedback, Squeal, I Don't Know

So I don't normally do much high gain stuff. Crunchy rhythms is my usual. A song I'm working on called for a lead tone during the hook. I cranked up some pedals and laid something I'm pretty satisfied with. The only problem is that there is a pretty loud feedback in it. I managed to EQ it out but it got me wondering. Is this normal? I could understand getting feedback if I was standing near the speakers but I'm recording in a control room with the cabinet in another room.

Is it normal to get this kind of feedback when you're recording in a control room?

I read a little and people were mentioning microphonic squealing. What do you guys hear?

I'm playing single coils btw.

It is entirely possible to get feedback in a control room when everything is cranked and the gain is high.

I use it sometimes to my advantage. They say you can't get a Fender Champ to feed back. Yes you can. :D

Stick it in the recording room with a mic on it, and play and monitor through the mains in the control room. You can get feedback.

So as Miro says, back off on something if the feedback is not desired.
