Favorite bodies: Alder vs Mahagony vs other

Describe your favorite guitar body wood and what characterises that wood from the others.

I dig ash and alder fender guitars. As for gibson style, I dig a flammed maple top. I saw a lace wood top tom anderson strat that was cool. If you check out www.warmoth.com they have a wood chart type thing that describes the wood tones etc.

:D I like the sound of mahogany on the cheaper Gibson guitars,like the Specials,Jrs.,Melody Makers,ect. I also prefer the older Fender alder bodies.These old Gibson and Fender woods have a "drier" low mid and warmth to them.
