External Sound Card and mobile PC

Hi!

I'm trying to find out if is there any good external soundcard for audio recording.

Did anyone of you use "mobile PC" (i don't know how to say it in English) for recording? How is your experience?

i was thinking about going pcmcia because i thought that the bus is similiar to pci...perhaps more stable than usb or firewire......i was considering the hammerfall dsp....however, i think anyone using a laptop would welcome any insights on usb, firewire, pcmcia cards.......and if i'm wrong about the bus thing, tell me ....just a hunch.
