External hard drive Question

Hi folks,

Just about to by an external hard drive so I can take files etc to another studio.I have a PC system will a external drive be able to work on both PC and Mac? The studio i am thinking of using uses Mac.Is there some need to know information?

if you format it as a fat32 filesystem, everything will work great. I know windows can't read hfs, the native mac fs, and i don't know if mac's can read ntfs, a native windows filesystem. If you want to switch it back and forth, it can definately be done as long as it's fat32.
 
Macs can read NTFS, but they cannot write to it (without third party software).

Windows cannot read or write to HFS without third party software.

Like suprstar said, the best way to deal with this is to go FAT32.
