Well, I'm finally going to make the move to digital. The plan is to record the tracks to my hard-disk then take those to another studio for mixing and mastering. I haven't settled on a software package because I don't know the following.

What format should I have the tracks in to move them to a different studio (.wav, .mp3, or other)?

Any help would be apprecitated.

Peace <><

1) What format is the studio using?

2) What format are you using?

I would suggest saving the files as WAV., but the studio might want AIFF.

1) The format of the studio may vary. Here in Memphis there's a lot of places to go. I've sent an e-mail to one of them I've had contact with before to ask what they prefer. But I didn't know if there was a preferred/basic method.

2) My format is as yet undetermined. I was thinking of going with either n-Tracks or Cakewalk. I think either of these packages support both .wav and AIFF, but I'll check before I make the purchase.

Thanks for the help.

Most studios use ProTools.

The ProTools platform will accomodate both formats (WAV. and AIFF). ;)
