Hi Folks: this is a Cool Edit Lite question, but I think the same applies to Pro:
When recording from some sources through an Audiophile 2496 sound card, it seems that the volume can be pushed beyond the supposed maximum that is shown on Cool Edit's display, yet I don't hear any clipping during playback. The question is, should I? Or does this result in some form of volume compression/limiting instead, rather than typical distortion?
