ever use an SM7 on a floor tom?

i've got a few sessions coming up and i think i'm going to try it. i know that it works great on bass amps so maybe on the floor also.

It works just fine on floor or rack toms-Richie

well i don't think i would ever try it on a rack tom. just way too big. sure would be fun to have enough SM7s to do a whole kit though.

I've used mine all around the kit. It's a very good all purpose drum mic. A bit big to fit on some drums but real good for the floor tom.

If the drummer is real careful you could take the wind screen off to get in to the hard to reach drums for recording the whole kit.but I would be afraid of a drum stick hit.
