sorry if im posting this in the wrong forum but there isnt one here for my question.
Can protools run without haveing any digi hardware?
I want to give that a go, but dont want to fork out loads to buy the 001 or 002.... the mbox will just be a waste. thanks
 
The Pro Tools Free version will run with your computer's sound card. You can get it from the digidesign site. It requires Win98 or one of the Mac OSes (don't remember which one). Normal ProTools won't run without the pro tools hardware.
 
so that means installing windows98 just to run the program... and installing xp again to run some of my other programs that dont run on 98... nah couldnt be arsed...
they just lost a customer today, i shall be fiddling with cubase for a while longer... mind you its prob a good way to prevent people from downloading it just to fool around at home
