Epic Synth-Folk

I used all sub $130 (Can) mics for this recording -- the SP B1, MXL 990, and 57. I finished it yesterday. I wrote it in the morning and then recorded it in the afternoon in my basement. I play all the instruments. It's called "Don't Miss Your Ship".

You need to bring the vocals up a lot!! Might want to think about using a few more chords, or writing a nice bridge into the song to provide a little change and make it more interesting.....just my 2 cents worth.

Your voice is excellent for this song. Like he said, you should bring it up in the mix a bit. The song does drag a little, but I think the general tone and mood of it is excellent. The guitar and vocals both sound a bit hollow or metallic to me (perhaps as a result of your mics? I don't know, I'm illiterate when it comes to this stuff) but it seems to work really well for this particular song.

Hi. This sounds like a big Neil Young kind-of thing. Cool.

But like the others said, you need to bring the vocals up. And you need to work on that arrangement. Too many sonic holes. Spatially and temporally. Even then, it's still all a bit too epic-ish.

But you could really do something with this.
