i just got those golden ears cd's and boy was that a good investment. you guys and/or grrls definately should try it. anyways i have a friend that buys all this top end gear, like jo meeks, lexicon, etc. and what ive realized is before im gonna get all that expensive gear im gonna learn and master 3 things:
1. EQ
2. Compression
3. Mic technique
and there you go. i think, in regards to the "rei" envelope, that those three things should be learned first, before spending all that cash.
thanx, Jal
ps. on that note does anybody know any good sites, books, or movies on the 3 above?

Yo JAL:

You get yourself a good vocalist and record her. Note her/his vocal approaches to the mic and you will learn a great deal. There is a big difference between a GOOD singer and one who sings without mic savvy. Savvy?

Education is just a mass government factory worker training program to mass produce dull listless drones that will crank out worthless crap in order to earn money and buy more worthless crap!

Oh sorry what was the question?
