Editing-Copy and Paste

I'm using a tascam 008. Yup, the most basic but I want easy.

I want to record two measures of hand drums and then copy and paste. And I use the I/O to mark the in and out. However, I can never time it exactly and the beat gets off. I should be pressing the out button on 1 of measure 3 for the cleanest cut?

Or is this way of looping not going to work very well and just use a looping machine?
