E-Drums with EZ-Drummer

Hi.I am trying to setup my Edrum kit with EZ- Drummer.
What i have so far is Alesis DM5 pro kit/ M-audio ultra fast track usb/ Laptop 2x core with 2GB ram.
Ez-Drummer v 1.0 VSTI
Reaper or Fl studio

I would like to run this using midi out on my alesis module,i would love some tips on the configuration on settings,audio,midi, ect..and the physical connections of midi cables from DM5 module to M-audio.And any suggestions on something more user friendly than Reaper,this is all new to me.Thanks Mates....
 
You pretty much just attach the midi out from your e-kit to the midi in on your sound-card and then launch EZ drummer as a virtual instrument of your choice. It'll most likely be configured straight out of the box, you just need to select your e-kit as the midi input and EZ drummer as the output. Again, this'll depend on your sequencer.

Your best bet is to hook up the midi and launch EZ drummer as a stand-alone program. Hit the pads and see what happens.
