with a DVD ROM I'd go for the cheapest thing...I bought one for $50 bucks recently...It came with software..It works fine....However, I bought it at Office Max or a similar type store, so you could probably find one cheaper.
i bought a nice sony 16x DVD-ROM (it plays SA-CD as an added bonus) and it is a great inprovement of my 4X DVD that was so great when i got that one... how times change...
