Drumset upgrade

Do you think that buying a Mapex Pro M to replace my 89' Tama Rockstar DX could be an upgrade??. Reading MD review, it looks like a good drumset, but taking notice that hardware is weak. What do you think?

I just recently bought a mapex pro m, and i think its great. I havent noticed any weak hardware, infact, i think its pretty sturdy, especially for stock.

I still havent recieved my 13 in tom or my snare tho, darn musicians friend mix up. But, i did wind up with to sets of hardware :)

I have my Rockstar since 98' and hardware is in good shape, as the whole set. Now that I´m having more gigs I don´t like how it sounds, I want a mellow and warm sound, something more pro, you know. Here in my country you can find just 3-4 brands, Yamaha, Ludwig, Mapex and Pearl. Entry levels are about 700-800 bucks, Pro M, Oak, let´s say semi pro kind of sets 1,000-1,200. If you want maple you have to order it and pay a lot.
