Hi,
First of all, just asking - i will test this at weekend, but if you have experience with this, please share 'em!
If you put one mic (i'll be using two shure sm81's) two drumstick lengths over&pointing directly to snare and other sm81 two drumstick lenghts right from there and little back --> like "behind" drummer's back. Height of mics aprox. same.
Just wondering, as this is lately recommended here how will this apply when smallest toms are @ left side of snare drum, on second bassdrum. I guess it works fine on standard 5-piece with standard, "toms over bass" positioning.
How would you do it?
Kit is: 2x22" bd's, snare, 3 racktoms & floortom. I'm capable to record eight tracks at once, so this is what i'm planning to do:
With 2 shure sm81's & 8 dynamic, cardioid behringers...
Ch1:Bassd. 1
Ch2:Bassd. 2
Ch3:Snare top
Ch4:Snare bottom
Ch5:All toms, submix L
Ch6:All toms, submix R
Ch7:Overh. L
Ch8:Overh. R
Bassdrums will be triggered later from audiotrack...
Feel free to comment, bring some ideas!
Thanks.
