Dolby noise reduction

right dont have the cash for the dolby noise reduction cards for my tape mechine ( 2" 456 tape )

looking for a cheaper alternative.
 
....cheaper alternative to Dolby A or SR....well, the only real alternative is DBX 1, and I don't know how much less that would be for the number of cards you need (you say 2-inch, so I am assuming 16-24 tracks.)
Literally, off the top of my head, I cannot think of anything else but those formats that would do justice to your machine.

You could also get a few DBX 900 racks and fill them with either 929 single ended noise reduction modules, or the 941 encoder and 942 decoder modules. The 941's and 942's go dirt cheap these days because nobody uses them anymore. You'd have to wire the racks, but this setup would probably cost less than a comparable Dolby setup.
