I'm not inclined to foolish pride
I have no shame in sayin'
The girl that keeps me satisfied
Is the one I'm always payin

She's a local treasure
Just like the girl next door
She brings me pleasures
With what she has in store

Leaves thoughts running through my head
Of all the things that I could say
She's never seen my bed
But she wakes me every day

I call her Toots and that's alright
Even though it's not her name
Sometimes she keeps me up at night
But she says she ain't to blame

Toots will make your heart race
And Toots will warm you up
Toots'll put a smile on your face
When she fills your coffee cup

Leaves thoughts running through my head
Of all the things that I could say
Toots has never seen my bed
But she wakes me every day

She gives a wink - she gives a grin
She has whipped cream in her hand
Oh I'll be waking up again
Down at Toots' Mocha Stand

With thoughts running through my head
Of all the things that I could say
Toots has never seen my bed
But she wakes me every day

Leaves thoughts running through my head
Of all the things that I could say
She's never seen my bed
But she wakes me - here - every day

Multitrack the guitar more and the vox less.

The vocals really overwhelm this whole mix. The percussion is all but inaudible.
The two vocal tracks are also pretty out of sync with each other. You want them to be nigh identical, and then you want to turn the second one way down so that it just sounds like one singer.

You have a good voice, and I notice you often double track your vocals. I agree with vomithatsteve, single vocal, overdub the guitar and bring the shaker (dog chain?) up.

Yeah... this song is so musically thin I tried to compensate with more focus on the vocal. The guitar is excessively redundant and lacks those little character runs that a decent lead guitarist could bring. Still, I like the lyrics, melody and the energy. I'll try to beat this thing down some more, but there ain't much hope for it without a few other elements.

toad - I do two takes on most songs and try to blend them together and pan them apart evenly. I like the character of the difference between the two recordings sometimes - like having background vocals. But I do tend to overdo it as well sometimes. And, I'll probably stab at re-recording this one using the advice above from you guys.... maybe it will end up sounding better to me than I thought.
