Do Monitors Age Well?

How do monitors age? I mean, do they get worse with age, do they mellow out, are they safe to buy used?

What is the life expectancy of a quality pair of studio monitors?

Thanks in advance!

Dear Prudence(hee-hee),

Monitors don't age well. Their cones begin to sag and they develop a nasty attitude.

You can buy 'em used but you'll have a hell of a time dumping 'em once the initial fun wears off.

As for life expectancy, they'll probably bury us all.

Best of luck!
