I have a DM5. It's worked beautifully for the 16 months I've owned it. Then all of a sudden I unplugged its adapter from the strip to reroute some wiring and this is the result:
1. With the same Alesis adapter the unit is completely dead. Won't power up at all.
2. With a different (non-Alesis) adapter I get power but...
a. The yellow/green backlight on the display does not light up though the readout is there and correct and working (different functions cause the proper readout).
b. The demo and onboard preview trigger pad both work but the volume of he unit is extremely low.
c. The triggers that I use to play the unit do not triger the sounds.
So....no backlight...very low output volume...no triggering.
Is this only because the adapter I'm now using isn't the proper one and so the unit is "underpowered" and so won't function fully or correctly? Or does this seems worse than that?
