DJ Cartridge Stanton Vs. Ortofon

I'm looking into getting a new set of cartridges and needles. I'm not sure which one to go with. The Stanton Trackmasters II or the Ortofon Concorde disco. The stantons are definately cheaper than the concorde, but does that definately mean they are better? I'm a producer looking to make mix tapes and using my turntables to scratch records on tracks. I'm I really getting better with the concordes or either one works. Any Dj's have any info or experience with this let me know. Thanks!!

Back in the day when I was into all that stuff, the Stanton 680EL and AL were the cartridges of choice for 95% of the pro DJ crowd. They were heavier, sturdier, more accessible and less money.

The Ortofon Concord definitely sounded a bit flatter and offered more detail so, they were more the choice of people wanting fidelity over industrial strength and economy.

For simple cuing and sound quality, go for the Ortofon.

For scratch mixing, go with the Stanton.

Cheers! :)
