Difference between House and Trance??

trance is generaly more electronic sounding and synth heavy and tends to be based more around chord progressions. House is more base driven and is generaly more loop based. I'm no expert on either but I think its rare these days to have pure house music, you tend to have funky house, tech house or hard house etc.
 
... or the White House, or a House Mouse, or Mickey Mouse, or Mickey Mantle...
