Delta 1010 as converter for ADAT

Hey, I want to take advantage of the lightpipe inputs on my Digi 002 Rack and I also have a Delta 1010. My question is if I get the Delta 1010ai, which is an ADAT interface for the Delta 1010, will I be able to use the combination as an A/D converter? They aren't that expensive. Or do you think I should sell the Delta 1010 and save up for something better? Thanks for the help.
