'delayed write failed'

I turned on my cpu today and got a 'delayed write failed' message.. then my storage drive disappeared and didn't show up as connected.. I rebooted and it seems to be fine now.. this happened once before with a different storage drive.. I'm new to computer recording but I know this would have been very bad if I was in the middle of recording..

I did a little searching and no one elses problem is like this..

anyone have any ideas?

cpu 2.5 p4, 80 and 160gb hard drives.. 1 GB of ram.. firewire 410 sound card.. this happened once before, and it was before I even had the sound card..

yup i get that as well. my storage is an external one but i see that message about 3 times a day. It's frustrating as hell but what can ye do?
