hey guys, my sister is thinking about getting her man friend an electronic kit and neither of us know much about them. was hoping for some advice. they'd be used for recording and probably screwing around

if anybody could suggest some personal favorites in various price ranges, that would be really helpful

thanks,
stu butler

Roland TD6S V-Tour set - $1400
Hart Dynamics Prodigy (comes with Alesis D5 module) - last known price approx. $800

Add about $100 to each of these for a kick pedal.

The Roland will sound and feel better, but the Hart is not bad either.

Some folks swear by their Yamaha electronic kits, but I don't particularly care for them.

Of course, the ultimate would be a Roland V-session kit, but that would run about $5000.

Something else to consider - if your sister's friend has been playing an acoustic set for a long time, it will take some time for him to get used to playing an e-kit, as the technique is different.

okay, thanks a lot for the info. that's a lot more $$$ than i thought

i've also heard people talk about the yamaha kits
