I wasn't sure where to put this, but it is an interesting little piece of technology. I have tried the rtpMIDI. I have it working, however, it is just a controller. I have tried on Reaper, the tech they are using I am pretty sure is JNode and it works to start recording. But, if you need more than just simple control, this here is something to look into. He shows Ableton, but it looks like that really doesn't matter.

Here is where I see it at its best, pretty much how this guy is using it. Noisy computer, crapping tracking room (my mixing area sounds like sh*t for tracking), my computer is loud, so forth and so on. Looks easy to set up, if you have a long headphone extension and a way to get the mic to your tracking area, should be good.
Hopefully this helps someone out there dealing with excessive computer or crappy tracking room.
