How do I record from a DAT onto my PC ? I have a DAT player and a hi8 machine but no DAT drive. What cable, where ? Please help ?

Spamming a question is not looked upon so well on BBS's.

Nice edited message. Me thinks it was longer and more brutal, but wisely sonusman saved his energy and witty quirks for a more important fight, the VS bitches.

Depends on the output of the DAT and the input on your soundcard ...

For a typical consumer set up, I think you'd just need a L/R RCA (male) --> 1/8" stereo male cable. Check the outpus on the DAT to make sure they're RCA and the soundcard (line input) to make sure it's 1/8". I'm sure Radio Shack carries such a cable and probably pretty cheap too.

Good Luck! :)

It would be nice if your sound card had an SP/DIF (Sony Phillips Digital Interface). More than likely your DAT has this type of input and output on it. It is an RCA type of connecter but the stereo information is all in one cable. Use a 75 ohm video cable to make the connection.
