Cubase problem with mono/stereo channels

here's a good one:
lets say i have a mono audio channel. why does it sum it to mono on output?
as far as i can see there are 2 meters jumping together for this channel, and its going to stereo out- so why sum it?

if you want an example, lets say i take this mono channel, and insert a stereo delay (like the Waves mono->stereo FX).
the output should be different from left to right, but still it sums it up and goes out as a mono channel.

only option is to add a new stereo track and copy the audio there, or open a send FX.

is there any way to have mono channels that send stereo outputs?

Mono tracks send a stereo signal. Well, left and right. Sending to a stereo FX track is exactly what you would want to do in order to get a stereo effect. Inserting a stereo effect on a mono channel, well it just don't make sense why you would try. Send to an FX channel man. :)

Either send it to an effects channel, or if you must insert it, you will need to add a stereo channel and move your mono audio to it.
