Cubase LE gets no feedback from mics

I'm running Cubase LE on my PC (runs windows xp). the software came with Alesis Multimix8 USB. I have a mic plugged into the mixer (which is going into my pc via usb cable) which picks up my guitar amps signal. The problem is, when I am in Cubase, it has never picked up any signal from the mixer. This has been going on for 5 year!!!!! Please help!
 
Have you got uptodate drivers? and did you press the little green button with the speaker on it next to the arm for record button.
Isnt the multi mix a two channel interface?
make sure the guitar say track is configured to go in a left channel and the mic configured to go in a right channel.
I'm not sure i got this right as i dont have a multimix so just try it and dont shoot me if im wrong guys.
Also try posting in the alesis section theres a bunch of helpful souls there too.
 
I have no idea how to update drivers. and are you talking about the monitor button? if so that is usually on. mulitmix is 8 channel. Nothing seems to be working, but ill try on alesis page. thanks for your help!
