Hi all,

I just received some cubase files off my friend an album we recorded, but when I open them on my computer I cant do anything. My pc either freezes or is very slow.

There are a hell of alot of tracks in each file (20+) so maybe my pc just isnt up to it; it is a few years old, but apparently has a 2.7GZ which I thought wasnt too shoddy.

Is it time to buy a faster computer or is there a way around this?

I am using Cubase SX version 2.2.

thanks folks.

You don't mention how much RAM you have.... insufficient RAM could be a major factor...

Secondly, when you open one of these Songs (before you press play)
see if you can freeze some or all of the tracks... This should make a huge difference.

You could then unfreeze individual tracks as you need to work on them

Lots of RAM
Dont use the boot drive; project should be on a secondary drive.
Drives should have plenty of free 'scratchpad' space.
You may have other processes going on your computer that may be slowing it.

You have to learn to diagnose and tune YOUR machine....
