Critique my mixing please folks...

We recorded a bunch of songs live in my studio at the start of the week. I'm trying to mix down with hit & miss results. I'm deliberately looking for a certain rough & ready quality - but there's a difference between 'raw' and 'poorly mixed' and I'm not quite sure which side of the line I'm treading at the minute. Advice on what I can do better gratefully received

Old Time Country Blues

I like the tune but a few things that I'm hearing on my monitors are:
-bass drum is flabby
-guitar is a little weak but I like the tone
-vocals are a little loud or they might just seem that way because of the guitars
-harmonica sounds good
-I think this song would benefit from some bass. If there is one, I didn't hear it

Mix 2

So I've EQd the kick for a bit more snap and a bit less mud and I also pushed the guitar up in the mix and tweaked it for a touch more treble.

There was no bass recorded, as we don't have a bass player (which is a deliberate decision). Mix3 is the same as mix2, but with a bottom end boost on the master EQ, to see if that makes the lack of bass less of an issue. I'm still not sure which mix I prefer.
