I have this friend (don't all good thread's start out that way?) who doesn't do much recording, but wants to do a lot of self-contained MIDI stuff (no keyboards or MIDI hardware, just within the PC itself).
As I know jack about soundcard MIDI synthesis, what consumer level card should I recommend that will give him good quality MIDI synthesis? (I've heard of Soundfonts, but know jack about them as well).
Any ideas?
