I voted "sometimes" but if I'm on the prowl for something specific or if I have cash burning a hole in my pocket, I'll look several times a day. I usually check eBay for the final price in an auction and what it goes for new at places like Musician's Friend. I only buy used when the price is at least fair. Most everything I have for recording is used and was purchased at fair to bargain prices.

I wouldn't deal with him/her/it, and would certainly want to be aware of it when dealing with craigslist whuch supports anonymous posts.

i've gotten some great deals on craigslist here in the nw... only problem is that when i've tried to sell something on craigslist, people are looking for that same smokin' deal, so it's a tradeoff. it's a buyer's market, at least on the portland craigslist.

I traded an Alesis 3630, Samson C01 mic (both in mint condition) and 60 bucks cash for an ART Pro Channel and a beat up AKG C1000. Not that I really wanted the C1000 or even like it all that much, but whatever. The deal was worth it for me for just the Pro Channel. I am guessing I will eventually use it for a bottom snare mic or something, but it was just an extra anyway.
I was gonna score a 100' 16 XLR/4 TRS return stage snake for 100 bucks, but the guy was being wicked shady and he was kind of a dick, so I told him to fuck off. I would have had to drive an hour to pick it up anyway.
