Converting wav to asx - or is wma fine?

I started a retro website about two years ago, and about six months ago added a "audio on demand" radio station to it. On the radio station page, I have five radio programs encoded in wma format.

half my listeners have no problem. They click on the files, the Windows media Player automatically pops up, then my programs start playing. GREAT NO PROBLEM!

When the other half of my listeners click on the program links, they get a download box instead.

Should I be converting my wav files into ASX, rather then WMA. Or is this a case of a number of my listeners having their computers incorrectly configured, to play internet media files.

Could some of you out there, click on the program links, and let me know what happens. Does the programs start playing or do you to get the download box.

Most of the people who have no problem playing the files, are Win 98, 2000,and ME users. Most of the problems seem to come from Win XP users. The links to the audio files are located at.

The audio files themselves are located at:

If it is recommended to use ASX files, what program would I use to convert my wav files into asx?

The original wav files were created in Sound Forge 6.0. Sound Forge doesn't seem to have the ability to create the asx file format. only mp3 and wma. I tried encoding the programs into mp3 format during the testing stages of my site, but many people had buffering problems with mp3 files.

Again, I don't know if I should worry about making any changes. If future listeners are keen enough to listen in, they'll most probably correct their own windows set-up.

Any help/input is much appreciated.

Mark.
