Now this may be a stupid question to some but I really have searched around but I haven't seen the answer. Only vague type of responses. I have a Mackie 1202 VLZ Pro mixer, a Shure SM58 mic and a Sound Blaster Plat 5.1 Live sound card (w/ a LIVE DRIVE). Now I am using the Mackie as a Pre amp. I plug in my mic into the first input on the Mackie. Then I connected a two pronged cable( I was told to use it by the sales guy). On the package the cable is called a Insert(send/return) cable. I plug the two pronged cable in to Main Out left and right. Now I plug this into my Live drive (soundblaster) Line in. Now when I use Cool Edit to record I get nothing. On my mixer it's showing my volume of the mic so I know the mic is working. I guess it's something with the cable connection to the sound card. Any suggestions? What am I doing wrong!
