Computer DAT tapes in an audio DAT machine?

I've a couple of DAT machines and have always used tape which is specified for use with Digital Audio Tape recorders. I also have some DAT tapes which were intended for use with DAT drives on a computer. I was wondering if the two were compatible. In the early days of DAT I remember reading somewhere about the dangers of using tape intended for use on a computer, on an audio DAT machine. Is this fact or "old-wives-tale"? Anyone any experience, suggestions?
