Compressor Question

From everything I have read, the FMR RNC is the way to go for a quality compressor. However, a noise gate would be beneficial in a home studio. I am considering the Waves C1 plug in bundle as an alternative. Has anybody had the opportunity to use both of these items for comparison purposes. Comments in general on this subject would be appreciated.

The RNC deservedly wins praise from many of my friends who record. However, be aware that with the RNC, one set of controls governs both channels. If one channel's signal is way different from the other, well, one of them is going to sound funny.

Other compressors offer two sets of controls so you can set each channel differently, if you want to or have to.

Go look in the Harmony-central.com classifieds for clean used compressors - there are usually a dozen or so up for sale at any one time.

I just got a Behringer AutoCom MDX 1200 for $125 over there. Two channels, two sets of controls, and a bunch of nice features.

Sorry, but I can't help you with the Waves C1 plug in bundle.
