How do i do this?? What else might i need. School me on all the connections.

Do yourself a favor - Throw out the compressor and that awful EQ and just go straight into the (awful) preamp on the board. Try to get a good, clean signal.

i figured out how to hook them up...i juss needed a preamp

But if i need to throw those away, what do i need to get? I used to use the compressor and EQ in the software but it took time away that i no longer have, so i decided to get those. I just record hip-hop vocals (one mic), and as far as the preamp, its done good enough to get us on radio.

Do I really need to throw these away? (Keep in mind i'm not trying to spend too much)

The Berry-board has preamps - Terrible, noisy, void of usable headroom, but they're there.

But on the hardware - The EQ, yeah, you can literally toss it. Garage sale, sell it to a guy with a bad PA system. There's no reason to put that in your rack unless you're using it to trigger a sidechain. The 3630 is one of the most famous cheesy compressors out there also. Are there worse? Maybe one or two... But I can't think of a reason to actually record through it. Native plugs are going to give you better performance (and better fidelity, and less noise, and less distortion, etc.). If you were using it as a color unit, that's one thing. But it's not a good color unit (there's an understatement).

You have three "cheese" pieces in a row - If you can cut that down to one (by just using the preamps) you're going to be way ahead.

Just worry about the core - Set a nice "normal" level (with those preamps, I'd shoot for an absolute peak of around -12dBFS or so with everything else except for the pre-gain at unity) and go.

I'll second that. The cash you saved not buying that crap will be good towards your next purchase, which should be a decent pre, and bypass the board all together if you mix on your computer. Once you've got a strong core, like stated above, then consider adding that kind of stuff. What's the point of EQing a fuzz track with an eq that will just add more fuzz and make the trebles twangy and the bass distorted??
