Compression

I used compression on vocals the other day and found upon replay that the voice kept cutting out.
Could this have been due to input volume?
This was my first time trying to use compression.
I am mic>mixer>soundcard.

Any tips on how to use the n-tracks version of compression?

The N-Track compressor is just a demo version. If you want to use it you have to pay an extra 30$ or so (don't remember). Check the fasoft.com site for more information.
